Painting on Fabric, at Last!

So ages ago (last October/November?) I signed up for a corresponcance course with the Embroidery Guild of America in Marking and Painting on Fabric (the second course down here). The idea is that you paint the background of your embroidery design, and then work the details on top, as much or as little as you like. The course didn’t require any actual embroidery, just painting.

Well, I bought the materials for the first of the two projects required, and then I procrastinated.  Last week I heard that the stuff had to be turned in by next week, the 20th. So today I finally pulled out my materials and started. And guess what? From photo on my computer screen to painted fabric- 3 hours. That’s all! And it was really fun.

I decided to make my project into a pair of facing pages for the embroidered book I am doing inspired by Downeast Maine. These pages are two views of the rocky coast.
